Syringomas are small, firm, skin-coloured or yellowish bumps, usually clustered on the lower eyelids and upper cheeks. They come from sweat ducts, are benign and are often mistaken for milia.
Each syringoma is treated individually with a very fine thermocoagulation probe to flatten its surface. Because they sit deeper than milia, several sessions are usually planned.
Tiny crusts form and flake away over about one week. Improvement builds over a series of sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.
Moles, cysts and suspicious lesions are outside esthetic practice, medical esthetics included. Any spot that is changing, irregular or unusual is referred to a physician or dermatologist before any cosmetic treatment. Where there is any uncertainty, Liza will not treat without written confirmation from your physician that the lesion is benign and suitable.
Liza earned her esthetics college diploma and licence in 2000, while BC’s former Cosmetologists Act was in force; BBB has verified her diploma. Since 2003, no licence has been required to practise esthetics in BC, and “medical esthetician” (or “medical aesthetician”) is not a regulated title. BC regulates the premises instead: Cantik’s studio is inspected every year by Fraser Health.
Diagnosing skin conditions and removing moles or cysts are outside esthetic practice, medical esthetics included. These are referred to a physician or dermatologist.
Liza uses the Silhouet-Tone VascuLyse 2G®, a Health Canada-licensed device. You have the right to ask what device will be used on your skin and whether it is licensed by Health Canada.
Who will perform my treatment? What training do they hold? Is the device licensed by Health Canada? Will you refer anything outside your scope?
No. Milia are trapped keratin near the surface; syringomas are small sweat-duct growths that sit deeper, so they need a different approach and usually more sessions.
Most clients need a series of sessions, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, for gradual flattening.
Treated bumps usually stay flatter, but new ones may form over time.
Yes, with careful technique. Every area is assessed first, and anything too close to the eye is not treated.
