Seborrheic keratoses are waxy, 'stuck-on' looking spots that range from tan to dark brown. They are benign and become more common with age, often on the face, chest, back and scalp.
After a careful assessment, thermocoagulation is used to treat the raised surface of each keratosis precisely. Thicker or larger keratoses may need more than one session.
Before
Immediately afterTreated keratoses form a light crust that flakes away over one to two weeks, revealing new skin underneath. Protect the area from the sun while it heals.
Moles, cysts and suspicious lesions are outside esthetic practice, medical esthetics included. Any spot that is changing, irregular or unusual is referred to a physician or dermatologist before any cosmetic treatment. Where there is any uncertainty, Liza will not treat without written confirmation from your physician that the lesion is benign and suitable.
Liza earned her esthetics college diploma and licence in 2000, while BC’s former Cosmetologists Act was in force; BBB has verified her diploma. Since 2003, no licence has been required to practise esthetics in BC, and “medical esthetician” (or “medical aesthetician”) is not a regulated title. BC regulates the premises instead: Cantik’s studio is inspected every year by Fraser Health.
Diagnosing skin conditions and removing moles or cysts are outside esthetic practice, medical esthetics included. These are referred to a physician or dermatologist.
Liza uses the Silhouet-Tone VascuLyse 2G®, a Health Canada-licensed device. You have the right to ask what device will be used on your skin and whether it is licensed by Health Canada.
Who will perform my treatment? What training do they hold? Is the device licensed by Health Canada? Will you refer anything outside your scope?
No. That is why every spot is assessed first. Any spot that is changing, irregular, bleeding or unusual is referred to a physician or dermatologist before any cosmetic treatment.
Smaller keratoses are often treated in one session. Thicker ones may need a second session 4 to 6 weeks later.
Yes. Sessions are time-based: 60 minutes for $210, with as many spots treated as is safe and comfortable.
A treated keratosis does not usually return, but new ones can develop over time.
One 60-minute Precision Skin Correction session treats several concerns. Not sure? Book a complimentary phone consultation and send photos beforehand.
