Milia Removal in Surrey: Choosing the Best Method

By Liza James, licensed esthetician since 2000 · Surrey, South Surrey & White Rock
The short answer

For most milia, especially around the eyes, precise thermocoagulation or careful professional release is safer and cleaner than squeezing. The best method depends on the size, depth and location of each milium, so each one is assessed first.

Manual extraction

A trained professional can release some superficial milia using sterile technique. It works well for small, shallow milia, but forcing deeper ones can irritate the skin.

Thermocoagulation

A very fine probe delivers controlled energy to each milium, allowing precise treatment on delicate skin. Treated milia usually leave a tiny mark that settles within a few days to a week.

What to avoid

Never try to squeeze or pick milia at home, especially near the eyes. Milia have no opening, so pressure only damages the surrounding skin.
