With correct technique and good aftercare, thermocoagulation is designed to minimize the risk of scarring. The most common cause of a lasting mark is picking at the scab before the skin has healed.
A treated spot usually forms a tiny crust that flakes away on its own within several days to two weeks, depending on its size and location. Fresh skin underneath may look pink for a few weeks before blending in.
Picking or scrubbing the crust, sun exposure on healing skin, and treating too aggressively in one session. That is why each concern is assessed and treated at the right setting, and some are treated over two sessions.
Keep the area clean and dry, use the recommended post-treatment spray, avoid makeup directly on treated spots until healed, and protect the area from the sun. Full instructions are in the aftercare guide.
