THE $99 FACIAL: WHAT ARE YOU REALLY PAYING FOR? Professional Facial Surrey BC

Updated: 4 days ago
I’ve been wanting to say this for a while. So, let’s get real.
$99.
See that number on a treatment menu and think, “Wow. What a deal.”
Maybe.
But before you book it, give your head a shake.
$99 today is not $99 in 2000.
I’ve been a Licensed Esthetician since 2000, so I remember what it cost to run a professional business then—and what it costs now.
Inflation. Rent. Insurance. Utilities. Education. Professional products. Equipment. Maintenance. Supplies. Sanitation. Technology. Booking systems. Payment fees. Taxes. Advertising.
A professional business cannot run on fairy dust.
And I know because I love what I do. I've had to learn, invest, adapt, and absorb the rising costs of running a professional business.
I understand the cost because I'm the one carrying it.
So when someone expects today's professional service at yesterday's price—26 years later—I have to wonder:
THIS ISN'T A COMPLAINT. IT'S AN EDUCATION.
I love what I do. I understand what it costs to do it properly, and I am proud to invest in my business.
But honestly, it is remarkable that I even have to explain the basic economics of running a professional business.
After 26 years, it's high time we educated consumers about what actually goes into the professional services they are paying for.
I'm not apologizing for the cost of doing things properly.
I'm explaining the value behind it.
So yes. I'm saying it. Get real. Give your head a shake.
Experience costs money too.

THE COST OF EXPERIENCE Professional Facial Surrey BC
You're not paying only for the minutes on the treatment bed.
You're paying for the person behind those minutes.
Knowledge to assess.
Experience to adapt.
Technique to perform.
Judgment to know when not to treat.
I've spent more than 26 years building that knowledge and experience.
Experience cannot be downloaded.
THE DEVICE QUESTION MOST PEOPLE NEVER ASK
If an “advanced facial” uses a device, ask:
WHAT EXACTLY ARE YOU PUTTING ON MY SKIN?
What device?
Who manufactured it?
What is it intended to do?
Is it appropriately authorized or licensed for its intended use in Canada?
Who is operating it?
What training do they have?
A device being available online does not automatically make it appropriate for professional treatment.
And calling something “advanced,” “clinical,” or “professional” doesn't make it so.
Technology is only as good as the person using it.
At Cantik Esthetics, thermocoagulation is performed using the Silhouet-Tone VascuLyse 2G radiofrequency device, with individualized treatment planning and professional aftercare.
IS IT REALLY A FACIAL?
The word “facial” can mean almost anything.
A comprehensive customized facial is not necessarily the same as an express treatment, LED treatment, peel, extraction service, or primarily device-based treatment simply because they're all called a “facial.”
Don't compare the name. Compare the treatment. Professional Facial Surrey BC
Ask:
How long? What's included? What products? What techniques? What equipment? Who performs it? What training do they have? Is it customized?
Don't buy the label. Investigate the treatment.
WHO IS ACTUALLY TOUCHING YOUR SKIN?
Don't just ask who owns the business.
Ask:
WHO WILL ACTUALLY BE TREATING ME?
At Cantik Esthetics, there is no mystery.
I personally perform every thermocoagulation treatment.
The person assessing the concern is the person performing the treatment.
PROFESSIONAL SERVICE HAS A COST
Professional products cost money.
Equipment costs money.
Maintenance costs money.
Education costs money.
Insurance costs money.
Time costs money.
Aftercare costs money.
The treatment doesn't end when you walk out the door.
Aftercare is part of responsible treatment.
SO, IS $99 BAD?
No.
A promotion can be legitimate. An introductory price can be legitimate. A shorter service can legitimately cost less.
But here's the question nobody seems to ask:
What does that $99 actually cost you by the time you walk out the door?
Was it really $99?
Or did the treatment turn into:
$99 facial + $200 in products + another add-on you didn't plan on buying?
Maybe those products were genuinely appropriate for your skin.
Maybe they weren't.
The point is: know what you're buying.
Ask what is included.
Ask what isn't.
Ask whether products are optional or recommended.
Ask what the total expected cost will be before you book.
And if you're comparing a $99 facial with a $199 facial, ask:
Same length? Same practitioner? Same products? Same techniques? Same equipment? Same experience? Same customization? Same aftercare?
If not:
You're not comparing prices. You're comparing different services.
Because $99 on the menu doesn't necessarily mean $99 out the door.
And that's not just a pricing issue.
It's a transparency issue.
LOOKING FOR A DISCOUNT?
I understand. Everyone loves a special.
But if you're asking me to reduce the price of the same professional service, let me ask:
WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO OMIT?
The experience?
The knowledge?
The treatment planning?
The professional products?
The equipment?
The time?
The individualized attention?
The aftercare?
Because those aren't extras.
They're the service.
A legitimate promotion is one thing.
Expecting the same professional service for less simply because you asked is another.
AND THEN THERE'S LOYALTY Professional Facial Surrey BC
I have clients who have been with me for years.
They return. They use multiple services. They refer friends and family. They trust me.
I notice. And I value it.
My loyal clients are often rewarded in ways that never appear on my public price list—bespoke packages, thoughtful extras, and special touches.
That's my way of saying:
Thank you for valuing what I do.
New clients are absolutely welcome and deserve the same professional care and respect.
But a discount is not an entitlement simply because someone asks for one.
Loyalty is earned. Trust is built. Relationships matter.
I want to give something back to the people who consistently choose to support my business.
That's my kind of discount.
CHEAP ISN'T THE PROBLEM. LACK OF TRANSPARENCY IS.
I'm not saying the most expensive treatment is the best.
I'm not saying every $99 service is substandard.
Professional Facial Surrey BC
I'm saying:
GET REAL.
Know what you're buying.
Know who is treating you.
Know what equipment is being used.
Know what's included.
Know the experience behind the treatment.
Because two services can have the same word on the menu and still be two completely different experiences.
WHAT ARE YOU REALLY PAYING FOR?
More than the product.
More than the machine.
More than the minutes on the clock.
You're paying for:
Experience. Knowledge. Technique. Professional products. Appropriate equipment. Treatment planning. Time. Aftercare. Accountability.
You're paying for everything behind the treatment.
At Cantik Esthetics Skin Care, that's what professional skin correction means.
A LOW PRICE CAN GET YOUR ATTENTION.
TRANSPARENCY SHOULD EARN YOUR TRUST.
$99 may be the price. But what is the value?
GET REAL.
GIVE YOUR HEAD A SHAKE.
ASK QUESTIONS. Professional Facial Surrey BC
Your skin deserves more than a good price.
Precision. Experience. Individualized Care.
That is the Cantik approach.
